To celebrate Read Across America Week (February 27th-March 2nd) your child will have the opportunity to dress up.
Monday–Dress up like your favorite story book character.
Tuesday–Wear your crazy “Seussical” hat and/or socks.
Wednesday–Wear STRIPES from head to toe.
Thursday–Snuggle up with Seuss–PJ Day.
Friday–Cat in the Hat will read to the students in the library.
Yippee! We are celebrating our first Compliment Party on tomorrow—Wednesday, February 22, 2012. To celebrate we will wear our pajamas to school. Remember PJs must be school appropriate.
Your child may also bring a small stuffed animal to school, as well. The stuffed animal needs to be small and quiet. 
Jump Rope For Heart will be next week (Feb. 21-24) during PE. Please remind your child to wear his/her tennis shoes to school.
If your child collects money for Jump Rope for Heart, please send the money in the collection envelope to school. Also, PLEASE make sure your child’s name is on the envelope!
Donations collected for the American Heart Association (AHA) are due no later than Friday, March 2! Willard South raised over $6,200 last year and was the top money-raising school in Southwest Missouri! Our school goal this year is $7,000.
You may purchase a yearbook for $15, and the yearbook order forms are due Tuesday, February 21st. 
Please make plans to attend the showing of Kung Fu Panda 2. The admission is $1 per person or $5 per family. We will be showing the movie Thursday, February 16th, at 6:00 PM. For more information about the movie night, please click here.
It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and that means our Valentine’s Day class parties are right around the corner. We will be sharing and passing out Valentines cards on the day of the party. If you would like to construct and/or decorate a Valentines box with your child, please feel free to do so! You can make your box as elaborate or as simple as you would like! If you do not have time or supplies to make a box with your child, we will make a Valentines bag at school on the day of the party. Also, if your child needs Valentine cards to pass out please let me know!
To help your write a Valentine for each friend please click on class list. You may send your child’s Valentine’s box and Valentine’s Day cards to school Monday, February 13th or Tuesday, February 14th.
Our class party will be Tuesday, February 14 at 2:30 pm. Please make sure to send your child’s box with them on the day of the party! If you have any questions, let me know! Happy crafting!
Our January Tiger Pride Assembly will be tomorrow afternoon–Tuesday, January 31st. We will meet in the cafeteria at 2:30 PM. Hope to see you there!
This Monday, January 23rd is McTeacher Night at the Chestnut Expressway McDonalds. Please feel free to drop by any time from 4-8 PM and have McDonalds cook dinner for you.

School will NOT be in session on Monday, January 16th. Please enjoy your three-day weekend and encourage your child to spend 15-20 minutes reading a good book.
